Visiting Arizona Doll Museum in Phoenix
|
A small museum located in the Steven's-Haustgen house which is one of the few buildings left from the original town site of Phoenix. This is a perfect place for little girls and those who love dolls. The Doll and Toy Museum is a small ( 4 rooms) museum in the historic Stevens House (built in 1901). If you enjoy looking at dolls and miniature dollhouses this is a great spot. My daughter enjoyed looking at all of the intricate details of the many dollhouses. Some of the dollhouses include: a hat store, a candy store, and several detailed different homes. There is also a small collection of dolls from various time periods and from different countries. One of the rooms is set up as a schoolroom with many antique dolls as students in their little desks. We enjoyed this little museum since we are planning on building a dollhouse similar to those showcased. I wish it was a larger museum and one that was a little more kid friendly. Some of the dollhouses are so high up I had to lift my daughter up to see them.
