A popular trail to hike at Camelback Mountain in Phoenix is the Echo Canyon Summit Trail.

How to Get There: To reach Echo Canyon Summit Trail at Camelback Mountain:

Echo Canyon Park allows access to the Echo Canyon Summit trail as well as the shorter Bobby's Trail on Camelback Mountain.

The parking area is small and there are only about dozen spots to park on the nearby street, so on the weekends you can expect to wait for a spot to open up in order to park.

The rocky path of echo canyon trail starts off with many man made steps. They will give your knees a good work out.

Once you make your way past the intial stairs you'll find the majority of the path is rocky. You will be climbing over large boulders to reach the summit. Very few areas of the hike are level, so wear some good hiking boots or shoes.

There are two steep rocky inclines that you will have to take to reach the summit. They are even more fun on the way back down!

Over a few more boulders, you are almost there. Keep going up until you reach the summit to enjoy the 360 degree views of Phoenix. It is stunning and you can see for miles and miles. The summit has a large flat surface where you can have a snack and enjoy the view. There are plenty of other people up there that will gladly take your photo, so you have proof you made it to the top!

Now you just have to make it back down, but trust me it is lot faster going down then hiking up.

Tips: Don't forget water and a camera! My cell phone stopped working about 3/4 way up the trail. Dogs are allowed on this trail.
