Arizona Native American Indian Ruins Walnut Canyon

Walnut Canyon is located just east of Flagstaff and offers you the opportunity to see Native American Indian Ruins. The Sinagua dwellings date back some 700 years. There is a small visitor center and two trails available to hike.

The Island Trail is a mile long and considered strenuous. From this trail you can get up close and personal with the remains of 25 of the cliff dwellings. We visited in the winter and the Island Trail was closed, so we took the Rim Trail.

The second trail is call the Rim Trail and it is around .7 miles long. This trail is partially paved and has two outlook areas.

Views at Walnut Canyon

While we were not able to see the dwellings up close like we wanted we did get pretty close to a deer and had great views from the overlooks.
