Peoria, Arizona is a suburb of Phoenix with a population of aprox 150,000 people most of the new development is taking place in Northwest Peoria near Lake Pleasant and the 303 freeway. Lake Pleasant is a short drive from NorthWest Peoria. One of the most visited lakes in Phoenix it was created by the Waddell Dam. Because of the close proximity to the city is a very popular destination for water sports, sailing and boating. There are plenty of spots to camp, fish, swim and hike as well. For all you lovers of space and science don't miss The Challenger Space Center. Eight different exhibits, Planetarium Shows, simulated space missions and more. The center is located in North Peoria. Baseball fans flock to Spring Training at Peoria Sports Complex where you can see the ball players up close. Home of both the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, the stadium attracts thousands of visitors annually. Peoria's main shopping and restaurants surround the Peoria Sports Complex and is near the Arrowhead Towne Center. The Stadium Coyotes Polar Ice Center is open year round, imagine ice skating in Arizona! Rock climbers, skateboarders, baseball players,fisherman all enjoy the amnetities at Peoria's best outdoor/indoor Rio Vista Recreation Center located just off the 101. If you are looking to catch a broadway show, Peoria residents and visitors can visit the new Peoria Performing Arts Building Theater Works built to revitalize the downtown area.
