Despite the tremendous growth in the region, Phoenix has retained a laid back atmosphere.  Dress is casual in most restaurants. After all it is the desert and there is still an old west influence in this sprawling metropolitan city.

What’s in a Name?
According to Egyptian legend, a Phoenix was a giant mythical bird that arose from the ashes of a previous Phoenix.

Modern day Phoenix arose from the ashes, so to speak, of the Ho ho kam people. The Ho ho kam roots were expert farmers and built over 135 miles of irrigation canals to water their crops.

Those same canals are used today in modern day Phoenix. In a sense, Phoenix is a city reborn.
