Fish in Sedona at Rainbow Trout Farm

Fish in Sedona at Rainbow Trout Farm

Catching fish at Rainbow Trout FarmWhen I was a kid we lived near a lake and all you had to do was drop a fishing line in and you would get fish in no time. Unfortunately that has not been our experience with our kids. Due to their frustration of not catching anything, we decided to take them to the Rainbow Trout Farm where we were positive they would get to experience catching their own fish.

Drive  3 miles north of uptown Sedona on 89A and look to your left for a sign that says "Rainbow Mobile Home and Natural Springs" turn here, go across a small bridge and to your left. If you reach Slide Rock Park you've gone too far!
Rainbow Trout Farm has two natural springs filled

with hungry Rainbow Trout. Drop an old fashioned wooden pole in and within minutes your little one will have caught their very own fish! And quite a boost to their confidence in their ability to fish. The Trout farm provides fishing poles and bait. When you arrive you just have to grab a pole and a bucket, and ask the clerk for some bait. This is NOT catch and release-remember you have to pay for each fish you catch or you will be fined!

They will gut and clean your fish, you can then grill your fresh catch there at the park and have a picnic or get some ice and wait until you get home.

Feeding the fish

You can also get a handful of fish food for 25 cents and feed the fish. There are so many of them they will jump out of the water when you throw the food in. If you are looking for a lazy inexpensive day of fishing or catch and release, Rainbow Trout Farm is not the place for you. If you do not have the patience for fishing or simply, like us, want your kids to experience catching their own fish but haven't had such good luck the Rainbow Trout farm is a great way to spend some time with the family.
