Arizona Wineries - National Wine Day Everyday
National Drink Wine Day is on February 18 and National Wine Day is on May 25. However, in Arizona everyday is national wine day (at least at my house it is). Arizona may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of vineyards, but if you visit Arizona try some of our wine too. You may be amazed at the tasty varieties growing here in the southwest.
Main Arizona Wineries
- Verde Valley
Next time you are visiting southern Arizona or the Verde Valley try a glass of wine from grapes grown here in the southwest.
Wilcox is 80 miles southeast of Tucson. Each year they celebrate with two wine festivals, one in the fall (October) and one in the spring (May). With an elevation around 4,000 feet, Wilcox enjoys mild weather and fertile grounds for grapes.
When in town stop by one of the eight tasting rooms or choose to tour one of the dozen wineries near Wilcox.
Sonoita, also located in southern Arizona, is about 50 miles south of Tucson. Here you can visit eight wineries and taste some of their premium wines.
Wilcox Wine Festivals
The Wilcox Wine Festival is considered one of the best in the country . We had a great time visiting for the weekend. It was the perfect way to try some new wines. Some of our favorites were from Coronado Wineries. I prefer sweeter wines. If you do too you may enjoy Conquistador Red or Dolce Veritas.
Verde Valley Wineries
The Verde Valley Wine Trail is two hours north of Phoenix. Six wineries and eight tasting rooms will take you through the quaint towns of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, and Cornville. Verde Valley has some fantastic wines and the scenery is beautiful in this area as well. Take some time to explore the little towns while you are here.
